Russell L. Price, Jr. enlisted on 15 August 1944 into the US Army. After training the 99th Division shipped out and arrived in England on 10 October 1944. On 3 November they landed in France and saw their first combat action on 9 November. The Division was partially surrounded in the Battle of The Bulge when the Germans started their counter offensive on 16 December 1944. His unit suffered heavy losses, but was rebuilt by the end of January 1945. They crossed the Rhine at the famous Remagen Bridge on March 10th and 11th and kept up the attack on the Germans. The Division began its attack in the Ruhr area on 5 April clearing resistance pockets around Wingeshausen, Germany. It was in this area that Private Russell lost his life. Private Price had two brothers in WW II:  John Miller Price – POW and Preston Lee Price. His parents were Russell L., Sr. and Effie Price and they are buried at Mount Herman Church Cemetery.
