1^st Lt. Cornelius C. Young entered the State’s Militia about 1861 and served as a Conscript Officer in Wake County (per North Carolina Adjutant-General’s Militia Officer Roster 1861-1865 located at the NC Archives). The Obituary Notices from the Biblical Recorder, 1835-1877 records that Cornelius C. Young, Confederate Soldier, died 25 June 1862. He was the son of Elijah and Sally Young of Panther Branch Township.
